Notes for ALLEN TROUSDALE:

    In 1830 Allen was living in Madison Co. (formed in 1821 from Western Reserve), TN his family consisting of males:  one 30/40, one 20/30 (?), one 5/10, one under 5; females:  one 30/40, one 10/15, one 5/10; no slaves (Census).  He moved to Arkansas by 1840 and later to Texas settling in Lamar Co.  His second marriage occurred about 20 years after the death of his first wife (Fam Trad).  In 1870 he was living near Gainsville in Cooke Co. and moved to Pottowatomie Co., OK about 1872/4 (Hist Okla 1909 I 511).  He was a farmer, cattleman, Democrat.  Allen was the first to be buried in Wanette Cemetery; Mary is buried with him.

    A graduate of Zanesville Academy, was exceptionally well educated.  In 1870 she was a teacher.  She was postmistress at Oberlin, Choctaw co., OK for six years; Meth-Episc (Hist Okla 1909  I 511).

44.  NANCY ANN4 TROUSDALE (ALEXANDER3, JAMES2, JOHN1) was born April 15, 1804 in Crab Orchard, Cumberland Co., TN, and died August 18, 1879 in Magnolia, AR.  She married COL. SAMUEL GLADNEY 1827 in Madison Co., TN, son of JAMES GLADNEY and NANCY YOUNG.  He was born 1803 in Fairfield Co., NC, and died August 18, 1875 in Columbia Co., AR.

45.  JAMES4 TROUSDALE III (JAMES3, JAMES2, JOHN1) was born June 15, 1814 in Gallatin Co., IL, and died Aft. 1870 in Elizabeth, IL.  He married MARY E. ASHBY October 15, 1862 in Galena, IL.  She was born July 19, 1826 in Canada.

    In the Black Hawk War James served in Col Hargreaves regiment enlisting in 1832.  He was in the relief expedition to release Col. Deruent and fought in the battle of Bad Axe in Wisconsin, ending the hostilities.  In 1836/7 he lived in Bare (Bear) Creek (prec), Gallatin Co. but had moved therefrom by 1840 (Early Settlers 31).  He migrated to Jo Daviess Co. settling in Elizabeth (twn) where he acquired a half of Sect. 33.  In 1870 he was a well-to-do farmer living in Hanover (twn) of the same county (Census).  He added
